3rd Friday post : Work in progress

Since this is my 3rd post today, I don't feel like I need to say too much, except that yes, I realize that the picture from the previous post is too dark, I will take a new one. There's actually no pure black in that painting, so it's not an accurate picture...it is dark though.

This one here is a work in progress, almost done but not quite, I just can't look at it anymore today.

This weekend I'll be checking out "My Week with Marilyn" at the Mayfair theatre in Ottawa. Always a good time.

New work : 2nd Friday blog post

This is another one I managed to complete this week.  More fresh wood surfaces coming tomorrow including a different size.  I've only worked with 36 x 36 size surfaces so far for this series, so I'm going to experiment with something a little different, 30 x 40.  I know, big woop, but it's not square, so baby steps here folks.

Warning : this one's mushy

Okay, warning, this is a mushy post.  My husband is sneaky.  He's always been sneaky, keeps secrets and surprises, well, secret and surprises. On valentine's day he said he didn't want to buy me flowers because that would be cheesy, cliche... He said he'd rather buy me flowers for no specific reason or holiday.

This morning, on my way downstairs I opened the door to my studio to air out that wonderful smell of damp wood and drying paint, only to find beautiful flowers and a wonderful note.

I love my husband very much too, and he has brightened this dark rainy day for me, as he often does.

Thank you.

He's only into my rice krispies.

My dog that is. He never comes in my studio, but today I had rice krispies in my hand, and so I had company for the time it took me to finish them. It. What ? Anyways, where's the love ?

Hey I get it, food's good, I can't blame him.

Otherwise it was one of those days in the studio where no matter what I do my work seems to be in a constant state of "hmmmm...". Ugh.

AND ! That bright blue I put in the sky is still there.  So many big decisions, does it stay ? Does it go ?

Too blue.

Yeah, I think in a couple of days I'm going to regret that brighter blue...we'll see. I usually use very neutral colors, paynes gray being the closest thing to blue that I use.  But, for some reason, I wanted a bright blue in there today, must be spring trying to influence me.

The other one is almost done, but needing some tweaking so, soon I'll be posting some more completed work.  I am now zomped out and don't feel like being in the studio anymore so I'm going to rock the ukulele for a while and then I'm out. I know what  you're thinking, you're thinking there's a contradiction in "rock" and "ukulele", but you're wrong. So there.
